Options for French gel polish. How to do a French manicure with gel polish at home

Some girls believe that gel nail extensions harm their own nails. I myself once thought so, until I decided to study this issue more carefully. It turned out that your own nail is nothing more than dead cells of the nail plate. The nail cannot breathe, which means that covering the plate with a gel coating will not in any way affect the so-called “breathing”.

The second misconception is that only natural nails are in fashion. Of course, if your master does not do gel nails well enough, then it is better to leave them natural. But when comparing a beautiful manicure on natural and artificial nails, the vast majority of respondents will prefer the second. Therefore, if you want to wear gel artificial nails, wear them for your health.

Well, this lesson with step-by-step photographs will be devoted to how to make a laid-out French gel at home.

To make a laid out French gel at home, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • primer;
  • gel base;
  • glossy top with a sticky layer;
  • dehydrator (removes the sticky layer, degreases the nail plate);
  • camouflage gel;
  • white gel;
  • universal gel (with a purple tint, which when dried in a lamp does not give a yellowish tint);
  • flat brush for applying gel;
  • a flat brush for removing excess gel from the free edge;
  • file for filing artificial nails (100/100 grit);
  • buff for polishing the nail plate;
  • ultraviolet lamp (36 W) for drying.

Step-by-step lesson “How to make a laid-out French gel at home”

1) If you already had extended gel nails, then you need to prepare them for correction: remove the colored gel polish, remove detachments, treat the nail plate in the hole area, file the sinuses and give the nail the desired shape. If you are extending nails for the first time, then first the nail plate of the natural nail is filed, prepared for extension, then the nails are extended into forms, dried, and given the desired shape. At the beginning of laying out the jacket with gel, the hand looks something like this.

2) To ensure good adhesion of the artificial material to the natural nail, treat the nail with a primer. I use an acid-free primer, it is convenient and safe if the liquid gets on the cuticle.

3) Then apply a gel base to the nail plates. This will ensure a good fit of the gel to the nail plate and protect against detachments and chips. When applying, try not to flood the cuticles, otherwise the manicure will look untidy.

4) The base needs to be dried in a lamp for 2 minutes.

5) Now take a flat brush and apply camouflage gel to the nail 2/3 of its length from the cuticle. The free edge area should remain uncovered. If the gel has flowed onto this area, apply the excess gel with a second flat brush, forming a smile area.

6) It is better to lay out each nail separately and bake it in a lamp for 2 minutes so that the gel does not have time to spread and does not flow onto the cuticle and side ridges.

7) Now wipe the brush with a dehydrator and take the white gel.

8) We place it only on the area of the regrown edge. Bake in a lamp for 2-3 minutes.

9) When all the nails are ready and well dried, close the jars of gel. The next step is filing the nails, and if nail dust gets into the gels, they will lose their quality properties. We treat the nail plates with a dehydrator (moistening a cotton sponge in it), removing the sticky layer.

10) File your nails in the following sequence. First, we go through the side areas, removing possible sagging and giving the nails direction. Then we use a file over the entire surface, file well the sinuses (areas around the cuticle), and then the free edge.

11) After work, remove dust from the nails with a dehydrator and cover them with a thin layer of universal gel to make the manicure more scratch-resistant. Dry your nails in the lamp for 2 minutes.

The apparent simplicity of French manicure has deceived many beginners. It would seem so complicated: a semicircular “smiling” line at the tip of the nail!

But in reality, there are a lot of problems with drawing a French jacket:

  • Asymmetrical design – curved “mustaches” and offset center;
  • Uneven surface - bulging smile and waves in manicure;
  • Excessive thickness of the nail plate and a very dense tip;
  • Blurred joint - between the main color and the decor;
  • Chips of the edges and the jacket itself;
  • A very wide or very narrow smile;
  • Yellowness of the white stripe.

Reasons uneven French can serve:

  • incorrectly selected tools;
  • mistake in choosing the composition for the “smile”;
  • poor eye;
  • ignoring basic technical rules;
  • ignorance of the secrets of professional masters.

There are several ways to get the experience you need:

  1. take a manicure course from a good specialist;
  2. “get” your own bumps and gain experience;
  3. analyze the advice of professionals and understand the principles of quality work.

The last option is the simplest and most achievable.

Secrets smooth jacket with gel polish multi-stage. It’s not enough to just arm yourself with a good brush and repeat the movements “like in a master class”; you need to understand the basics of possible problems and eliminate them.

You need to start by preparing the nail. Only on the tip of the correct neat shape will an excellent, even “smile” lie.

Symmetry must be present from the very beginning, so ignoring the preliminary stage is a real blasphemy.

The preparation period necessarily includes:

  1. shape correction;
  2. removing gloss with a light buff;
  3. treating nails with a dehydrator and primer.

The second important stage is the choice of tool. Most often, masters paint a smile with a brush, and beginners use stencils.

When choosing a brush, priorities may be different:

  • Medium round brush made from natural materials. Suitable for high-quality drawing, but requires experience and work skills.
  • Flat hard brush. It will help create the ideal width and precise contour of the French line, but it requires a little skill in creating a “mustache.” To work, the tool is saturated with gel polish, rather than simply applying the composition to the tip of the brush.
  • Original gel polish brush and any thin hard brush. It is used for a professional life hack, when a French line is drawn with a line wider than necessary, and then the excess is simply erased with a clean brush. The main danger of this method is streaks of white gel polish on the main background. To prevent them, the auxiliary brush should be used not dry, but slightly moistened with a clinser and cleaned after each movement.
  • Very fine brush. Suitable for drawing “by dots”, that is, the nail is marked with guide marks, which are then connected to each other. Recommended for craftsmen with a good eye.
  • Dots. An ideal tool for a beginner, as it does not require precision in applying gel polish and controlling pressure when moving. Drawing the “smile” is done according to preliminary markings, but it is much easier than working with a brush.

A smile is usually drawn like this:

  1. We cover the nails with the base color in two layers, allowing each layer to dry. It is better to paint French on one nail at a time so that the design does not become blurred while waiting.
  2. Let's start with the French. First, use a thin brush to draw a line along the edge of the nail. To define the bend of the “smile,” we draw lines along the side ridges (the lines should not be long). Draw a semicircle with the brush, connecting the top point at the “rollers” with the center of the nail, repeat on the symmetrical side.
  3. Now we paint over the smile line, correct the shape in the center and send it to dry for 1-2 minutes, depending on the lamp.
  4. If there are bald spots in the color, you can apply a thin second layer of “smile” and bake it again in the lamp.
  5. Then cover the jacket with French top and dry it.
  6. After a minute or two, remove the stickiness from the cooled gel polish.

Beginners can also use a stencil or foil tape. The essence of the work is to define the boundary of the “smile” with a clear line and carefully fill the limited space with gel polish of the desired color.

The following tips will help beginners at home or professional manicure in creating a beautiful and even French manicure:

  1. The correct width of a “smile” is approximately one-sixth of a nail.
  2. According to the rules, the bend of the line should reflect the semicircle of the cuticle, but here everything is very individual, sometimes the line is crooked, sometimes you want a special “smile,” and the shape of the nails in a French style is also very important.
  3. The ideal camouflage color for a classic “natural” French coat is average between the shades of the skin and the nail plate.
  4. It is allowed to draw a French line with gel paint and paint over it with gel polish. However, it is better to work with one composition, since mixing may affect the quality of the coating.
  5. To obtain a clear joint line, it is recommended to remove the sticky layer from the camouflage or color.
  6. A good top will save a white jacket from yellowing, so you should carefully choose the manufacturer.

There is another interesting option for creating a French jacket, the purpose of which is to avoid excessive thickness of the multilayer coating.

When applying each layer of camouflage or color, leave the “smile” area unpainted or remove the gel polish in this part of the nail mechanically - with any hard brush. And only after that they polymerize.

As a result, a deepening strip remains under the French jacket, which is filled with gel polish; you need color, but you need to act very clearly - the French jacket does not like flaws.

Why can't I get straight lines on my nails?

When the French design technique becomes clear, by analogy you can master even drawing on nails.

The tools are the same:

  • thin and wide foil or tape - as stencils;
  • brushes of different thicknesses for creating freehand lines and shapes.

It is very easy to draw geometric patterns, stripes and even shapes using foil and tape.

  1. Strips are glued onto the first colored layer of gel polish in the desired position with a small margin in length on both sides.
  2. This is followed by a second layer of gel polish and careful removal of the tape to expose the color of the bottom coating.

The second option is metallized tape or foil, used as decorative strips. They are simply glued onto the finished color and fixed with a layer of topcoat. Uncomplicated and elegant.

Both French and stripes are considered simple options for a stylish manicure. And indeed it is. If something doesn't work out at the very beginning, don't be upset.

A little practice, implementation of professional life hacks and secrets, and the result of an excellent manicure will become an incentive for further creativity.

In the price list of any beauty salon you can find such a service as a French manicure. It’s relatively expensive, but what sacrifices won’t you make for the beauty of your hands? Of course, it seems that it is almost impossible to accurately draw a French manicure at home along the contour at home. But ProstoNail will dispel this myth by revealing all the secrets of how to create a French jacket yourself, with a minimum of nerves and effort.

Preparation

Having appeared in the distant 1930s, French manicure still does not lose its relevance. We have already told the story of its appearance in a recent article, however, there are facts indicating that the “discoverer” of the French look was not JeffPink, but Max Factor, the ruler of mascaras and eye shadows. The old man did not have time to patent his invention and the enterprising Jeff began to use it on a commercial basis in 1970. By the way, the first star to dare to wear French hair was Barbara Streisend, the then trendsetter and super-popular vocalist.

At first glance, it seems that creating such a design is not an easy task. And even more so, it is inaccessible to beginners. We are in a hurry to “deceive” your expectations - everything is possible! The main thing is to choose the right tools and materials, on which the success of the entire action depends 50%. ProstoNails has collected everything you need for a DIY French manicure in one table, which you can see below:

Tool or material Functionality
Nail polish remover or remover Dissolves the previous coating, leveling the pigment
Metal pusher Minimally injures the plate when removed and pushes back the cuticle
File, abrasiveness from 110 to 180 grit Removes excess length and corrects the desired shape of nails
Orange stick and oil Necessary for unedged manicure to soften the epidermis
Cuticle trimmers and liquid Softens overgrown skin, which then needs to be cut off with scissors
Polishing buff For grinding plate irregularities for better coating adherence
Base and top To prepare and, accordingly, consolidate the result
Nude nail polish Used as a base color, imitates the natural soft pink shade of the nail bed.
White varnish shade To draw a “smile” line. This can be done either with gel or with regular varnish of medium thickness.
Stencils Strips that help to evenly paint free edges. Use your imagination, the perfect line can be made using tape

The necessary list of attributes for your ideal jacket has been collected! Add to it just a drop of effort and a little bit of zeal - then the result will definitely please you with the perfection of execution.

How to do a French manicure at home - step by step

People say that the master's work is feared. But what to do when you are as close to the master as you are to the moon, and you can’t bear to try on a Frenchie on your hands? We have collected the most effective methods, describing them step by step. Read carefully, memorize and feel free to start experimenting.

With stripes

French manicure using stripes is perhaps the simplest of all of the above. It will appeal to established lazy people or beginners who have never dealt with complex designs. We covered the subtleties of hygienic manicure in this article, but we will describe the immediate process of decorating with stripes below:

  • Apply a primer that seals and protects the plate or a colorless base;
  • take one strip from the set and apply it to the nail, simulating “trying on”;
  • remove the protective film and attach the strip, moving no more than 5 mm from the edge;
  • paint the empty part with a white or milky shade of varnish;
  • After waiting for it to dry completely, remove the strip and fix the result with a glossy topcoat.

Without stripes

French manicure without stripes differs only in the preparatory stage, then the process moves according to the plan outlined above. Still don't know how to make a stencil for a French manicure? Then all attention to our life hacks:

  • An alternative to strips can be regular or masking tape. Cut short, miniature pieces in advance to the shape of the plate and glue them to the free edge;
  • peel-off liquid used to protect the cuticle during ombre. Can be used as a stencil to prevent white paint from spreading;
  • cling film, which is always in the kitchen of housewives. It also adheres well to nails and works on the strip principle;
  • medical plaster. By cutting off a small piece of medical tape from its adhesive side, you can use it as an alternative to a stencil.

By the way, the process of how to properly do French in stages is described in detail in the training video:

With stencil

With a stencil, drawing a smile line becomes a mere trifle, which even a beginner can handle. Remember that stencils come not only from ordinary paper, but also from durable metal ones; we will tell you about the intricacies of using the latter in the master class:

  • After applying the base and the main beige or powdery pink color, wait until they dry completely;
  • Apply a small amount of white paint to the metal plate with the pattern;
  • Apply a stamp with a corner and gently, progressively “press” along the free edge of the plate;
  • let the varnish dry and only then complete the manipulation with a layer of glossy or matte topcoat.

With a brush

French manicure with a brush is a task for experienced users. It makes no sense to describe in detail the instructions for drawing the treasured white lines, but here are a couple of tips that will definitely help make your French jacket neat and elegant:

  • choose a brush with the longest bristles, elastic and loosely packed;
  • when modeling, move your finger smoothly, but not the brush, so the smile line will be clearer;
  • Remember that the curve of the line should accurately reflect the curve of the cuticle for an extremely natural appearance of the design;
  • first outline the outline of the smile line and only then paint over the drawing itself;
  • Use the flat side of the brush to seal the end of the nail plate to avoid chips and cracks;
  • Use only tools with synthetic bristles.

French manicure with gel polish

Shellac manicure is loved by many beauties for its durability and wear resistance. Agree, the average girl does not always have an hour or even two free time to correct her nail design. And walking around with chipped, peeling varnish is not only sloppy, but also not aesthetically pleasing.

Before you start painstaking work, read our tips and then the result will definitely please you and delight your colleagues and girlfriends:

  • try to apply an acid-free primer and spread the base evenly and thinly, without concentrating it at the edges;
  • We complete each stage of manicure with polymerization in a UF or LED lamp;
  • to prevent the smile line from spreading, remove the sticky layer over the entire surface of the camouflage coating with a lint-free cloth;
  • choose only a high-quality self-leveling topcoat, which will not only consolidate the result of your efforts, but also smooth out the “step” in front of the decorative element;
  • if an even coating is not achieved, use a sanding buffer, gently polishing the transition;
  • mix gel polish and gel paint in equal proportions to avoid spreading;
  • choose paints and varnishes of medium density and moderately thick consistency, they are much easier to work with.

Step-by-step visual instructions will help you easily turn all your ideas into reality:

How to do a French manicure with regular polish

A manicure produced with conventional varnish has both a number of disadvantages due to its fragility, and a number of advantages. For example, such a design can be easily adjusted, using a minimum of materials and effort. On short nails, the process is more complicated, since the limited capabilities of the plate always force the newly-minted master to be precise. But with our advice everything will go like clockwork:

  • put your nails in order, following the established scheme: cut off the length, adjust the shape, remove the cuticle and sand the surface with a buff;
  • Apply a thin layer of base, waiting for it to dry;
  • apply the basic camouflage coating, preferring a soft pink or beige varnish, dry it;
  • if the intended design is with stickers, then simply place a stencil and paint the space with white paint;
  • if you chose the manual method of painting with a brush, then do not move the edging too far from the edge, this visually “eats” the length;
  • Complete the process by applying a clear layer of top coat and oil to moisturize and slow down cuticle growth.

We think that we have already proven that it is more than possible to draw the perfect smile line without stickers and without a stencil. Well, if you arm yourself with a good mood and our life hacks, the result will defeat even the skeptics. It's time to check it out, isn't it?

  • in order to protect your skin from excessive dryness when removing nail polish, spread it in advance with a rich cream that seals the lipid barrier;
  • To make a delicate nude look neat, prepare your nails by first whitening them with regular toothpaste. This will reduce the intensity of the yellow pigment;
  • if you want to extend the durability of your manicure, then use a degreaser before applying the top and finish;
  • let each layer dry. Patience and only patience;
  • in order to create a funny pattern that complements the French, it is not at all necessary to buy dots. It can easily be replaced with a regular ballpoint pen;
  • how to draw a straight smile line without a stencil? Elementary, take a regular stationery eraser instead;
  • you can disguise the unevenness of the jacket with a thin line of glitter or sparkles, visually hiding the errors;
  • You can shorten the time gap between drying by dipping your nails in ice water.

We hope our tips and life hacks will help you achieve the perfect result with a minimum of effort. A straight smile line and always a flawless manicure!

To always be at your best and look unsurpassed, it is important to take care of your appearance. Manicure today plays a big role in the lives of the fair sex. It’s not for nothing that they say that hands can say a lot about a person. The type and shape of fingers, curves, lines and especially well-groomed nails.

French manicure is a fairly common service among women of any age. However, in order for nails to have an attractive appearance over a long period of time, sometimes they resort to coating the nail plate with modern special gel-based materials.

Preparation for the procedure

Before you start covering your nails with varnish, you should carefully and correctly prepare the nail plate. To do this you will need a minimal manicure set:

Step-by-step manicure

The ideal option would be to get a manicure at a salon. But today all materials are available at an objective price, and the technique of execution is quickly taught in a master class. But even a novice master can do this type of manicure at home if all the necessary items and tools are at hand.

Let's move on to the process itself. Before you start, try to protect yourself from household chores for a while. Not only will cooking dinner and cleaning up after the kids interfere with your concentration, but it's simply impossible to get everyone's flooring neat and even.

Next, wash your hands with soap and dry them thoroughly. File your nails so that they look even and uniform. In the future you will not have such an opportunity. Push back the cuticle with a special spatula or the cut edge of an orange stick. Many people prefer to trim the cuticle with nail scissors or a special pointed spatula.

After all of the above has been done, pay attention to the plate itself. Using a soft file, sand the enamel to a light roughness. However, you should not file it too hard so as not to damage it. This is necessary so that the varnish adheres to the surface as best as possible. Next, wipe the nail with alcohol using a lint-free cloth or a special alcohol-based product.

Nail polish

French manicure with shellac at home requires attention to detail. After the nail is prepared, you need to cover it primer. This is a means to ensure maximum adherence of the polish to the nail. When experienced craftsmen give lessons, they always emphasize that each layer must be carefully painted; however, it is strictly not recommended to go beyond the edge of the plate, since the varnish will subsequently begin to scrape off.

Basically, the primer is not dried under a lamp, so this layer can be applied quickly.

After that comes the base coat., it has no color and serves to even out the nail plate and hide all imperfections. We draw your attention to the fact that the layer should be uniform, but it should not be poured. It is better to make an even but thin ball. It is dried in a lamp for 2-2.5 minutes. It is worth remembering that you do not need to let it dry out, because the stickiness will ensure reliable bonding with the next layers.

After drying, take the previously selected base color and cover the entire nail with it. The application should also form a thin ball and not extend beyond the edges.

Many video tutorials recommend applying several layers of base color varnish. They should be thin and neat. Each of them is dried under a lamp. However, you should make sure that there are not too many of them, otherwise the manicure will look careless and vulgar. The best option would be 2-3 layers.

The white edge can be made with a small brush. To make it easier for beginners to understand how it should look, you can imagine a smile on the edge of the nail. But let us immediately note that the design may differ significantly. So, some people prefer to paint over absolutely the entire regrown edge with white and make it massive. The rest, on the contrary, are trying to draw the coveted strip as thinly and evenly as possible.

Striping using stencils

If you still haven’t learned how to draw pictures with a brush, don’t waste your nerves. For French nail polish, gel polish is also suitable stencils. They need to be fixed on a nail covered with colored varnish, retreating the part that you plan to paint. Then run the brush along the free edge and distribute the varnish evenly. Next you need to carefully and very slowly remove the stencil and correct any inaccuracies. It is important that all stripes look the same in width.

If you don't succeed the first time, don't rush to despair. You can remove a failed drawing if you did not dry it under a lamp. Using a napkin soaked in a special liquid or alcohol. And then continue the same thing. The white coating also needs to be dried under a lamp and checked how dry it is to avoid bubbles and swelling.

When all actions are completed, you need to apply the top coat. They cover the nail plate at the very last stage. Then it is also dried in a lamp until completely dry.

Upon completion, you may notice a sticky layer on the coating. This is completely normal and can be easily removed with a lint-free cloth and an alcohol-based liquid. Remember that the layer should not darken or become cloudy, but should remain shiny.

Design and original design

Today, you won’t surprise anyone with a classic French manicure. However, girls resort to original methods and often use additional design elements. You can decorate your nails with different designs and methods. In addition to various curls made from gel paint, stickers and shiny pebbles for decoration will add some charm and sparkle to your manicure.

French manicure with gel polish at home also implies the opportunity to experiment with the width and types of the white line in accordance with the shape of your nail plate and how much the regrown edge has been filed.

You can make the line smooth and clear, but there is an option when a smile can go beyond the strict image. The edges can be lengthened closer to the bottom of the nail, rounded to a greater or lesser extent.

If you do your manicure at home, Some rules must be followed:

In conclusion, I would like to note that today such a manicure is a practical and universal remedy. With its help, you will forget about the nail file and the unpleasant appearance of peeling varnish for a long time. And the pleasant, discreet design will be an excellent addition to your everyday or festive look.

I wanted something unusual for the holiday. But I still couldn’t choose my look, outfit and nail design. I watched a lot of video tutorials on this topic and found a very interesting jacket with sparkles and stones. Now at my mother’s anniversary I will be beautiful and attractive.

On women's hands, the smooth curves of the French jacket look simply amazing. For the most reliable and long-lasting fixation on the nails, it is recommended to use special compounds. You can do a French manicure using gel polish yourself. This review describes not only all its possible types, but also ways to create a house.

Materials and tools for French

It is almost impossible to draw perfectly straight and smooth lines with a standard brush. Therefore, if you really want your French manicure with gel polish to look perfect, we recommend that you first either buy a ready-made set or purchase its necessary components separately.

You will need:

Note that specialized brushes for French manicure with a “smiling” shape are sold. If you then want to decorate your French gel polish with designs, then you will still need to buy specialized brushes, several colored varnishes, a transparent base varnish (base) to protect your nails from excessive exposure to dyes, and it also promotes excellent fixation of the gel -varnish (it can also be used as a top finish), ICE or UV lamp to speed up the drying of the gel, otherwise the drying process will be very long.

If you like to experiment, then use strips of tape instead of ready-made stencils. This way you can draw not only the classic semicircular pattern, but also other geometric or asymmetrical “smiling” shapes. With proper experience, it is not difficult to draw almost any lines with a thin brush. Note that when your gel polish begins to thicken, it is enough to immerse the bottles in hot water for just a few minutes and it will immediately soften.

Types of gels

Gel polishes are made from essential acrylic acids, which promote perfect adhesion to the nail plate, and film formers, which, thanks to UV rays, form a durable coating. When using special additives, the composition becomes more plastic, viscous, and also acquires shine.

There is absolutely no point in buying cheap varnishes, because they peel off in a matter of days and at the same time ruin your nails. A high-quality composition, on the contrary, lasts for several weeks. It should not spread and be very dense. The best products are from the German and Japanese companies OPI and Masura, respectively, and the American PNB, Kodi and Geleration. It is also worth paying attention to shellac (more gentle formula) from CND. It can be removed without cutting, using only acetone. Also very popular are Chinese brands such as Bluesky, Cristina and Canni, which are much cheaper, are not much different in stability from their American counterparts, but have a pungent odor. Russian varnishes from RuNail and Aurelia with their wide color palette are also in demand.

Nail preparation

Any manicure should look impressive, and a French manicure should look especially impressive. Unevenly filed nails or carelessly processed cuticles instantly catch your eye. It is recommended to treat uneven nails with a special leveling compound.

We recommend removing cuticles with an innovation in the field of manicure - a cuticle softener (remover). This way you can remove unwanted excess skin without using tweezers and avoid unpleasant cuts. Therefore, this processing option is also called uncut French. A little information about working with this product: in order for the softener to be absorbed into the skin faster, we recommend holding your hands in water for several minutes, moving the cuticle using a pusher or an orange stick, after which the remover is applied here and left for a couple of minutes. After this, without wiping the nails, begin to carefully move the cuticle using an orange stick, then wipe the nail and, lifting the cuticle, scrape it with an orange or metal stick.

What else should you know about working with gel polish?

The gel can spread on its own over the surface of the nail, which means it is easier to use than classic varnish. However, they are unlikely to be able to quickly draw a manicure. Therefore, let’s look at this in a little more detail: apply the base varnish in the thinnest layer, just moisten the brush a little and “rub” it into the surface. To ensure reliable fixation, you need to paint the entire nail well, not forgetting the corners. After this, place your hand under the UV lamp for a couple of minutes for final fixation.

After drying, a sticky top layer remains, which can be easily removed with a brush. Otherwise, the layers will be uneven and will flow into the corners. Colored varnish, for greater reliability, is applied in 3 thin layers (each layer must be dried). Note that dark shades are painted unevenly, but this is easily compensated for by subsequent layers. We advise you to remove the sticky layer each time with a brush or napkin, as it promotes a thinner and more even coloring. White varnish is somewhat denser and should be applied in 1-2 layers and, to prevent yellowing, it is dried much faster (up to 90 seconds), and the finishing layer should be thicker than the colored one.

Scotch tape or a stencil makes everything much easier. You stick it on, paint the desired area and remove it until it dries. French can be applied both to an unpainted nail and to a colored base. The color intensity is proportional to the layers of varnish. A single layer is a translucent color, 2-3 layers are a rich shade.

Types of French manicure

  • classic French (the nail is covered with transparent varnish to emphasize the natural shine and beauty, the tips are white),
  • colored French (a mixture of any contrasting shades),

  • inverted French (“smiling” line at the cuticle, not at the tip of the nail),
  • asymmetrical (the line moves in an arbitrary direction),

  • deep French (the line moves deeper towards the base),
  • geometric (the tip of the nail is decorated with stripes, polygons or diagonals),
  • gradient (the line is decorated with a color transition),

  • marble (the tip of the nail or the entire nail is decorated with subtle patterns imitating a stone texture),
  • vintage (use “cracking” varnishes-craquelures),
  • combined (French + other types of manicure),

  • twist-french (several colors on the tip of the nail, it is possible to use thematic designs, patterns or figures),

  • French millennium (the decor is applied at the corner of the line or completely replaces contrasting varnishes).

Additionally, such a manicure can be decorated with rhinestones, pieces of foil, bouillons, sliders, bows, kamifubuks, which are applied to the wet varnish. Varnishes with a “sugar”, metallic, matte or halogen effect also look beautiful. To apply small details, it is better to use an orange stick or toothpick.

French with a pattern - it requires specialized acrylic compounds. They are less viscous, which means they can be used to apply finer patterns. Such compositions are extremely comfortable to work with, because they mix well and do not dry out without a UV lamp. It is also possible to use watercolor to create color transitions, securing it with a finishing layer.

It is better to mix paints on a palette or a piece of foil. Simple patterns can be easily drawn with a needle or toothpick. The easiest way to draw all kinds of commas, dots and stripes is with a dot (a tool with small balls at the tip). It is better to learn to draw French from primitive patterns, which naturally requires some perseverance and patience. Once you feel that you are completely comfortable, move on to complex drawings. The results are worth it!
