At what hand does the bride stand from the groom. Table arrangement and seating for guests at a banquet

Situations with accommodation by car, wrong organization arrangement of guests at the tables And in the banquet hall can cause confusion. In this case, the guests will sit down, where and with anyone. And again, completely unfamiliar people or people who do not get along with each other may be nearby. Then, most likely, they will feel awkward and constrained. And this can adversely affect the course of the entire banquet.

That's why wedding banquet requires thoughtful accommodation of guests.

To avoid unpleasant situations, you need to prepare a plan for placing guests at the tables in advance.

Ways of arranging tables in a banquet hall

To draw up a plan, you first need to know how to properly arrange the tables. Therefore, to begin with, we will analyze the main ways of arranging tables in a banquet hall.

It is better that the length of the tables is no more than 10 meters. In this case, it will be easier for guests to communicate with each other and it will be better to see the bride and groom. The width of the tables should be such that everyone is comfortable.

There is always a main table ("presidium") for the honorary participants of the banquet, which is shown in the figure.

He is usually followed by: groom, bride, witnesses and parents of the bride and groom. Tables for guests are located relative to this table, in various ways.

A) U-shaped way of arranging tables

Very often, the arrangement of tables in the form of the letter P is used. Its upper side is the “presidium” for the honorary participants of the banquet. Along the sides are the rest of the guests.

This arrangement of tables allows you to save space in the banquet hall. In addition, all guests are located relatively close to the bride and groom.

You can arrange the participants of the wedding banquet in two ways, shown in the figure.

The first option is more preferable because each of those present has the opportunity to see others without the risk of unscrewing his head when it turns 180 ° next. But if there are many participants in the banquet, and the size of the hall and the wedding table do not allow using the first method of accommodating guests, then it is quite possible to use the second. Of course, some of the guests will experience some inconvenience, but this is unlikely to somehow affect the course of the banquet and the mood of the guests.

B) T-shaped way of arranging tables

The method of table arrangement shown in the figure is used mainly in long and narrow halls, where the very shape of the room does not allow tables to be placed in another way.

It is suitable only for a banquet with a maximum of 50 participants. Otherwise, no length of the hall will be enough.

The main disadvantage of this arrangement is that the table is too long and the guests sitting at the opposite end of the table from the bride and groom can hardly see them.

C) W-shaped way of arranging tables

This way of arranging tables is used for large-scale wedding banquets, with the number of participants from 100 people and more. Here again, two options are possible, shown in the figures.

At the same time, with the increase in the number of participants in the banquet, the number of “combs” in the letter Sh also increases. Therefore, the more participants in the banquet, the more difficult it is for them to see what is happening at the table of the “presidium”. Communication will be limited to table neighbors only. But still for banquets with a large number of participants and relatively big size hall, this is the only possible way table arrangements.

D) Several large tables

In the version shown in the figure, a "presidium" table and several large tables are installed.

The undoubted advantage of this method is that the guests are closer to each other and they have the opportunity to communicate not only with their closest table neighbors. The downside is that guests sitting with their backs to the bride and groom will have to turn around at them all the time. And it’s not good to sit with your back to the bride and groom at a wedding. Alternatively, to solve this problem, you can leave the side of the table closest to the bride and groom free.

D) Lots of small tables

In the case of arranging the tables as shown in the figure, a cozy intimate atmosphere is created at the tables, conducive to communication. But on the other hand, then the guests are divided into small groups, and there may not be a single community celebrating the wedding.

You can choose any arrangement of tables, but do not forget to leave a place for dancing.

Ways to seat the "presidium" at the table

Let's analyze the ways of placing the honorary participants of the wedding banquet at the "presidium" table. In this case, we will assume that the observer is located on the front side of the table, i.e., looks at the faces sitting at the table.

The following symbols are used in the figures below:

N - bride
F - groom
M. N. - mother of the bride
O. N. - father of the bride
M. J. - mother of the groom
O. J. - father of the groom
Match. N. - stepmother of the bride
Rep. N. - stepfather of the bride
Match. J. - stepmother of the groom
Rep. F - stepfather of the groom
St. N. - Witness
St. J. - Witness

The method below is usually used:

The groom is located on the right hand of the bride. The witness sits on the right side of the groom. To the right of the witness are the groom's parents - first the mother, then the father. Similarly, on the left side of the bride is a witness. To the left of the witness are the mother of the bride, and behind her the father of the bride.

There are other options for the location of the "Presidium" at the Table.

There are also specific options. So you can choose the option that suits you best.

Accommodation for wedding table if the bride's parents are divorced and remarried

Placement at the wedding table if the groom's parents are divorced and remarried

The plan of placing the participants of the banquet at the tables

After you have chosen the location of the tables, you need to draw up a plan for placing the participants in the banquet at the tables. This principle of placement is usually used - first relatives sit, then friends and work colleagues. At the same time, the closest relatives are usually located closer to the table of the bride and groom. It is desirable that the guests who came together (husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, friends, etc.) sit nearby and at the wedding table.

In general, it is better to make sure that each guest is located closer to the one he knows, and at the same time has the opportunity to get to know previously unfamiliar people. If there are small children at the banquet, they should be seated with their parents so that they can look after them.

Usually, guests are placed at the tables according to the side of the bride and groom (for example, on the left side, the guests are on the side of the groom, and on the right - on the side of the bride).

But quite often, guests, both from the side of the bride and from the side of the groom, are seated mixed, so that they have the opportunity to communicate with guests from the other side.

You can place guests at the tables as you like: by belonging to the side of the bride or groom, by age, by family (in the case of small tables) or mixed. The main thing is to make it so that the guests feel comfortable, enjoy each other's company. In addition, everyone should sit so that they can see the bride and groom.

For example, let's make a plan for the arrangement of the wedding banquet participants at the tables. Guests who came to the wedding together are on our list in one cell.
We will assume that the arrangement of tables with the letter P is chosen. Then our plan will look like this:

Since there are more guests from the bride's side in our case, some of the guests from the bride's side had to be transferred to the groom's side.

As you can see, there is absolutely nothing complicated in drawing up a plan for the arrangement of banquet participants at the tables. It just has to be done in advance.

When calculating, we did not take into account that there would be four elderly people among the banquet participants. In addition, the bride and groom should also not drink much at the wedding banquet. Therefore, the amount of alcohol can be slightly reduced. But you can not do this and leave it in reserve.

When choosing lemonade, it is better, if possible, to give preference to light drinks. Then if you or someone else spills, the dress will not suffer and there will be no dark spots on it.

In addition to drinks for a wedding banquet, you will need a certain amount of them at the bride and groom's house, in the registry office and on a walk.

When inviting guests to a wedding, you need to think about how to seat them at the wedding banquet. You can, of course, not bother with this, but, as practice shows, it is still worth doing - think over in advance: who will sit where.

There are certain rules for seating guests at friendly and family parties and somewhat different rules for seating guests during large official feasts. We should consider all these options, since weddings are different - friendly (where mostly or only friends are present), family (where members of both families are present), and perhaps important people will attend your wedding at your invitation - all these aspects must be taken into account so as not to offend anyone.

Suppose Friends- they will understand, if anything ... and they themselves, in general, will figure out where to sit.

WITH family members- harder: God forbid to start life together from quarrels in the camp of relatives. It is very important to pay due attention to parents on both sides and, even more so, to elderly relatives.

And important guests- this is from the sphere of business etiquette: a wedding is a wedding, and business ties should be strengthened due to the attention paid (inviting a business partner or “necessary” person to such a personal event), the guest should not feel superfluous at your family holiday.

So, you are the bride and groom - main characters , "hosts" of the celebration, so the seats near you at the wedding table, both on the right and on the left, are considered the most honorable.

During official feasts (and your wedding is an official event), when seating guests, it is advisable to adhere to certain rules. Nowadays, they are no longer as strict as they used to be, but there are several fundamental points.

There are several ways to "notify" guests about their location at the wedding table:

1. A “seating plan” is attached to the wedding invitation. This option is not always convenient, since invitations are often sent out before issues with the banquet hall are resolved. You can, of course, send them additionally later, but this is additional trouble.

2. Cards with the names of the guests are placed on the wedding table near the cutlery.

3. Before entering the banquet hall, a “table plan” is hung out so that each of the guests can determine where and next to whom he is sitting. This plan is at the same time an opportunity for those invited to find out in advance about the lady who will sit on the right hand.
It is worth taking care of their acquaintance before the banquet, keep in mind!

4. Personally take care of seating guests at the beginning of the banquet.

Honeymoon locations:
The bride sits to the right of the groom.
At a rectangular table, your seats are in the center of the long side.
If the tables are in the form of T, P, E, the place for the newlyweds is always on the transverse side.

Parents. To the right of the bride sits the groom's father, next to the bride's mother. To the left of the groom sits the mother of the groom, next to him is the father of the bride.

Witnesses they sit not far from the bride and groom, or opposite, at a side table located in the center. Although at present, more and more often, witnesses are seated directly with the young: the witness is to the right of the bride, the witness is to the left of the groom. Next come the parents (see above).

The rest of the guests are ranked by age and degree of kinship. The older ones are closer to the newlyweds, similarly, with the degree of kinship. Priority: age, close relationship, female gender and importance of the guest.

Seating rules for guests:

When seating guests, they try, if possible, to seat men and women interspersed.
- They also adhere to the second basic rule: married couples separate (this, of course, does not apply to newlyweds).
- According to international diplomatic protocol, in any case, the hosts must sit on the same side as the guests of honor.
- Men always take place to the left of the ladies.

Behavior when seated at the table:

If the guests already know their seats, they stand near them, do not sit down until the hostess (in our case, the bride) sits down.
A man helps his neighbor sit down. And he "looks after" the whole banquet.

If you have foreign guests at your wedding, then care should be taken not to put them in a position that degrades their national dignity, otherwise they may regard this as disrespect for their state and nation.

First of all, it is necessary to strictly observe diplomatic etiquette. At the same time, one should not forget that diplomatic protocol and general civil etiquette are two different things. Those. you will have to approach the seating arrangements of guests very carefully and with all attention. Of course, you don’t put them near you - it’s still a wedding, but you shouldn’t sit “in the gallery” either: be sure to be in sight and be sure to take care of a pleasant and suitable “neighborhood” of such important people.

The main task of drawing up a seating plan for guests is to make it fun and interesting for all guests, the relatives of the bride and groom get to know each other better, and there was a friendly and positive atmosphere at the banquet. The way your guests sit can directly affect how the wedding celebration. Therefore, it is better not to put off until the last moment drawing up a plan for arranging tables and finding the optimal seating arrangement for guests, in which all guests will be comfortable.

The main schemes for arranging tables at a wedding

Now there are several basic seating arrangements for guests. How the tables will be arranged at the wedding depends primarily on the number of guests at the wedding, the size and shape of the banquet hall and, of course, your personal preferences.

When choosing a banquet hall, be sure to find out what tables are available, pay attention to the presence of columns in the hall and differences in floor height, as these issues can significantly limit your choice of seating arrangements for guests.

Seating guests at the common table

Traditional seating arrangement

This seating method is the simplest and is usually used at weddings with a small number of guests. There is one long table in the hall (that is, several tables standing close), around which all the guests are seated, alternating women and men. The newlyweds are placed in the middle of the table, while the bride sits to the right of the groom. Traditionally, to the right of the bride is her mother and father of the groom, to the left of the groom is his mother and father of the bride (few people follow this rule now, and they plant witnesses next to the newlyweds who will help during the holiday).

Seating the guests with the letter T

This seating arrangement is very popular with us, and is most suitable for small events and small banquet halls. The optimal number of guests with this method of seating is 20-25 people. The newlyweds sit at the head of the table, then the guests are arranged around the table depending on their age, status and proximity to the young.

Seating of guests with the letter P

This seating chart is an alternative to the T seating arrangement and is used when the number of guests is between 30-50 guests.

Seating of guests with the letter W

If the number of your invitees will be 60 or more, then you can use the seating arrangement with the letter W.

European table layouts

This seating arrangement for guests implies the arrangement of separate tables in the banquet hall, around which several guests are seated.

European seating methods are starting to become more and more popular with us, as in this case you can easily seat guests according to their interests, their marital status and age. So it will be much easier for guests to get to know each other better and find common topics for conversation. But so that the guests are not divided into groups according to interest, and also communicate with people from other tables, it is worth notifying the toastmaster of such a seating arrangement in advance so that he prepares general contests and options for meeting guests. You also need to make sure that everyone sees the newlyweds. To do this, the tables of the guests must be arranged in a checkerboard pattern, perhaps it would be better for the young table to be placed not in the center of the hall, but in front of all other tables.

Italian seating arrangement

In Italy, it is customary to use tables for 4 guests, while the young table is set on a small elevation so that all guests can see them.

English seating arrangements

The English seating scheme involves the use of round tables around which 8 guests are seated. According to psychologists, this number of people is optimal for creating a group that is comfortable communicating with each other.

Cabaret

They also often use a more convenient seating option, in which they try to seat guests so that no one has to sit with their backs to the newlyweds. To do this, use a smaller number of chairs, but put them in a semicircle. This option resembles the arrangement of tables and seats in a cabaret, which is why it got its name.

Seating arrangement of guests "Yolochka"

"Herringbone" is a cross between European seating methods, when separate tables are used, and traditional seating methods. The newlyweds are seated at a separate table, and guests are seated at several tables arranged diagonally parallel to each other. With this seating arrangement, guests can see the young people well, and at the same time, there is still free space in the center of the hall for approaching the bride and groom.

Wrong Christmas tree

Please note that this is the wrong option, as half of the guests will sit with their backs to the newlyweds!

American seating arrangement

Buffet table arrangement

American weddings also use buffet style seating. Long tables with treats are placed around the perimeter of the hall, and each guest can safely approach and choose dishes that he likes more. Guests are seated on long tables parallel to each other, arranged with sufficient distance between them so that it is convenient for guests to approach the table with drinks and dishes. For young people, a separate table is set. With this method of seating guests, or rather catering, the cost of a banquet will be slightly lower. Since fewer waiters will be required and guests will be more free to choose dishes. On the other hand, care must be taken not to form "queues for food", especially when guests are just starting to eat. Also, many guests may not approve of self-service.

Table arrangement "buffet"

If you are not ready to spend money on organizing a large banquet, or there is no time for a banquet (you immediately want to fly away on your honeymoon trip), then you can consider the option of holding a wedding reception. At the same time, there may not even be chairs at all, and in the hall there will be only tables with drinks and snacks.

After you have decided on the layout of the tables at the wedding banquet, which is most suitable for your event and the number of guests, you need to decide which of the guests will sit at which table and where. To make the holiday fun and everyone feel at ease, you should use the basic seating rules. We offer you the most important tips who we hope will help in such an important matter.

  • It is best to alternate men and women, with the rules of etiquette usually seating men to the left of women.
  • Make sure that all guests have a good view of the newlyweds. Sometimes it is better to put an extra table, and not try to fit all the guests at one table.
  • Close relatives of the bride and groom must be honored with attention and seated next to the young.
  • It is advisable to seat relatives according to the proximity of kinship and age. Parents plant with parents, the elderly with the elderly.
  • High-ranking guests should also be seated closer to the newlyweds, showing their respect for them. But at the same time, you should not put them at a table where only relatives will sit - they may feel uncomfortable there. It is better to put them at a separate table or next to close friends of the bride and groom.
  • Divorced friends who do not get along well should be seated at different ends of the hall and warned in advance that both of them will be present.
  • If one of the guests comes without a couple, it is worth picking up a free interlocutor for him, and not placing him together with married couples or a company of old friends.
  • On the one hand, it is better not to separate close friends and work colleagues - they are used to celebrating all the holidays together. On the other hand, you do not want your friends to communicate only with each other, forgetting about other guests? Our advice is to sit next to a group of friends or colleagues along with another small group of friends. So the friends of the bride and groom will have a very good opportunity to get to know each other.
  • Etiquette dictates that couples sit across from each other, but they are usually seated side by side. Here it’s your choice, in the first option they will be able to communicate more with other guests, in the second case, perhaps they will be more familiar and comfortable.
  • Unfamiliar guests who will sit next to each other must first be introduced to each other. If you have time before the wedding, it would be good to arrange a joint dinner where your guests could get to know each other in advance.
  • Pay attention to the temperament of individual guests - you should not seat several merry fellows and ringleaders at one table, and calm and uncommunicative people at another.
  • Make sure that the interests of the table neighbors at least somehow coincide and that they are interested together.
  • For the children present, you can organize your own separate table, so it will be more interesting for them and they will feel independent. But if there are few children at the wedding, then they can be safely planted next to their parents.
  • If you have foreign guests at your wedding, then make sure that they sit next to English-speaking neighbors (or guests who speak their native language).

A wedding celebration is a celebration of love and tenderness, it is fun, dancing and, of course, a rich wedding table. After the walk, a wedding feast is arranged, before which the young people are sprinkled with sweets, coins and rice. Many people think that organizing a wedding feast is easy. In fact, in the organization wedding feast There are some nuances that should be taken into account and observed.

Before the young people sit down at the wedding table, check that nothing has been poured or poured on their chairs or under the chairs and that no one has sat in their places.

Make sure that no one passes between the young people throughout the entire wedding, otherwise the marriage will be short-lived.

It is desirable that young people also sit not on separate chairs, but on a common bench. If it is impossible to find a bench, then at least put a common coverlet on the chairs, or rather a casing turned inside out.

If young spouses are seated at the table on a shaggy fur coat, their life will be rich and free.

The most optimal is the L-shaped form of the wedding table. At the same time, young people should be seated on a corner (but in no case through the corner of the table), and next to each of them, representatives of their clans are seated.

Her girlfriend (witness) sits next to the bride, and his friend (witness) sits next to the groom. Following the witnesses, the godparents of the bride and groom sit down.

Guests are seated according to age: in the red corner next to the young - young people, and the farther from the red corner, the older and older. The oldest people should sit at the opposite end of the table from the youngest.

Guests from the side of the young man should sit to his right, and relatives and friends of the bride should sit to her left (traditionally, the right part of the space symbolizes masculinity, left - female)

Parents sit down at the end of the festive table.

It is desirable that everything be the same for young people: two glasses of red (protective, shielding) color, two plates with the same pattern, two silver or gilded spoons and forks, it is better not to put knives at all (less “cutting”, i.e. quarreling between will be themselves).

The less alcohol the young people drink during the entire wedding, the calmer their life path will be.

During the feast, it is customary to break the dishes, and the more fragments, the more happiness the young will have.

In order for the young to love each other and there were no betrayals in their house, it was necessary to say special words for bread and salt and let the young people eat this bread at the wedding table.
“As people love bread and salt, so a husband would love his wife. Just as salt cannot be replaced by sugar, so a husband cannot be changed by his wife either with a dark one, or with a light one, or with a full one, or with a thin one, or with a smart one, or with a stupid one, or with any other slave. As people love bread and salt, so would a wife love her husband. Just as salt cannot be replaced by sugar, so a wife cannot be changed by her husband either with a dark one, or with a light one, or with a full one, or with a thin one, or with a smart one, or with a stupid one, or with any other slave. Amen".

At the moment when the young are kissing, the following words must be said, then not a single parting slander will break the young: “As they look at crosses when Feast of Christ, so the young would look at each other - they haven’t seen enough. As Christ loved his Mother of God, so would a husband love his wife, and a wife would love her husband. Amen".

The generally accepted rule of festive etiquette is to pronounce the third toast “for love”, so it should be remembered that only after the third wedding toast can young people shout: “Bitter!” and ask them to kiss.

Throughout the wedding, young people should only be together, including dancing. As a rule, the first dance the bride and groom dance in the middle of the circle formed by the guests present.

Mandatory rule: young people should enter the wedding table only in a clockwise direction or in the direction of the sun, and leave in the opposite direction.

Immediately after dividing the loaf ( wedding cake) it is customary to do the following ritual with a veil.
The mother of the groom approaches the young, removes the veil from the bride and ties the attributes of the female share: a scarf and an apron. A veil is put on the head of an honorary young witness, and she had to wrap herself around herself three times. This ritual symbolizes the passing of the baton of life: it is assumed that it is the first witness of the next who should marry. After her, the veil is transferred to other girls - participants in the wedding. They repeat the ritual. Then the groom's mother takes the veil and hangs it in the red corner under the icon.

The bride cuts the wedding cake, the groom holds the knife. The groom puts a piece of cake with the main pattern on the plate of his betrothed, the bride presents the next piece to the groom. Then to the guests. This is a sign of mutual agreement and help to each other.
- If three years in a row on the anniversary of the wedding to cover the table with a wedding tablecloth, then the young will live together until old age.

The newlyweds should dance at the wedding banquet only together and a little with their parents. Parents after dancing with their children must definitely reconnect them and bring them to each other.

Sitting on the corner of the table - not getting married for seven years.

When the newlyweds sit down at the wedding table, it is necessary that they sit on the same bench (not on chairs), then the family will be friendly, otherwise the marriage will be unsuccessful.

If the newlyweds themselves take piece treats, then it is necessary to take two at a time - otherwise they will live apart.

Girlfriends should not wash the dishes, otherwise there will be a quarrel with the newlyweds.

If at a wedding you tie two bottles of champagne with a ribbon and leave them instead of drinking them, the newlyweds will definitely celebrate the birth of their first child.

The newlyweds at the table should be seated on a fur coat turned upside down with wool so that they live richly.

For young people at a wedding, wine should not remain in glasses - this is not wine, but tears remain.

Coins put into the glasses of the bride and groom during the wedding should be kept at home under the tablecloth, then the family will live richly.

When the newlyweds are greeted with bread and salt, whoever pinches off a larger piece and eats it will be the master in the house.

When young people from the registry office come to the festive table, a respected or senior member of any of the family must circle the young people around the table three times. According to Slavic traditions, this symbolizes the eternal bond between husband and wife.

Husband and wife should not eat from the same spoon, so as not to be dissatisfied with each other later.

Traditional wedding table arrangements

Before you make the correct seating arrangement for guests, you need to decide on the arrangement of tables in the banquet hall. The traditional seating arrangement is the simplest., it is used if there are not too many guests. A long table is set up around which guests are seated.

In what order to seat people: it is best to alternate women and men with each other. The newlyweds are located in the middle of one of the long sides, the bride sits on the right side of the groom. To the right of the bride sit her parents, and to the left of the groom - his mom and dad.

A young husband and wife sit in the center of the table, next to them are the witnesses, and then the parents.

At a wedding of 60 people or more, it is best to use the seating arrangement with the letter W. This way, all guests will not be too far from the newlyweds. But with such a landing, not all guests will be comfortable look at the bride and groom.

European table arrangement

Seat arrangements, as in Europe, are becoming more and more popular, as it is quite easy to seat invited people according to interests, age and marital status according to these schemes.

In order for guests at different tables to communicate with each other too, it is worth warning the host about this placement. Let him think over general contests or acquaintance games

Italian seating involves the use of tables for 4 people, and the table for the newlyweds is set a little higher than the rest. Thus, all guests will be able to see the bride and groom. For the first 3 tables, you need to seat the parents of the newlyweds and the closest relatives.

Scheme with square tables

Boarding guests in English involves the use of round tables, each of which is designed for 8 people. It is this number that is more comfortable for people to communicate, especially if they are not familiar with each other.

The original way of seating guests is called "Cabaret". In this case, the guests are placed in such a way that none of them sits with their backs to the newlyweds. Tables are placed in a semicircle and extra chairs are removed.

Arrangement with round tables and empty seats

The option of arranging tables in a herringbone pattern is something middle between European and traditional way. For the newlyweds, put the table separately, and place the guests at the tables, which are arranged diagonally parallel to each other. This seating arrangement allows everyone good to see the heroes of the occasion, and the passage to the bride and groom is freed in the center of the hall.

How the newlyweds sit at the table: from which side the bride and groom

The tradition of seating the bride and groom for festive table very old, so many people forget how to properly seat the newlyweds, but remember that this is important. There are many erroneous versions, but there are also the only true: during the marriage ceremony, wedding and banquet, the girl should be to the left of the young man.

Bride and groom at the banquet table

The groom is to the right of the bride - this is how he shows that he is the protector of the future wife. The young table should be located in the center of the banquet hall.

By tradition, newlyweds should not sit on different chairs. It is better if they sit on a small bench - this will symbolize their unity and the beginning of family life

Witnesses at the wedding should always be arranged in such a way that the bridesmaid is next to her, and the groom's friend is with him. At the festive table, the witnesses at the wedding sit in exactly the same way, but not vice versa.

The parents of the bride and groom should sit as close as possible to their children. Therefore, often not witnesses, but parents are planted near the bride and groom.
