We knit the next 9 loops with a thread of a contrasting color, transfer these loops back to the right knitting needle and continue knitting rows 12-33 in a circle. Knit mittens with knitting needles to keep your hands warm even in the most severe frost!

Mittens are the most practical and convenient accessory for cold winters. Today you can buy mittens of different models on the market, but it is more pleasant to wear if you knit them yourself.

  • If you learn how to knit clothes, then you can create entire sets for winter - a hat, scarf or snood and mittens. These things complement each other perfectly if they are created in the same style using the same pattern.
  • To learn how to knit beautiful mittens, you must first create a simple model of mittens - with a simple pattern and without a seam.
  • Based on the skill of knitting such accessories, you can knit any warm items of clothing for your husband and children.

Every woman should know how to knit mittens, just like woolen socks. Let's look at how to create simple mittens for women and men using knitting needles without a seam.

Diagram and description:

Such a product can be plain, or you can add a thread of a different color to the elastic or stockinette stitch. The knitting pattern for such mittens is simple: 2x2 elastic on the wrist, the rest is stockinette stitch.

  • For the knitting process, prepare wool yarn- 70 grams and 5 short needles No. 3.
  • For a wrist girth of approximately 20 cm, you need to cast on 36 loops(9 loops on each knitting needle).
  • Knit the right mitten first. Mentally, number the knitting needles for yourself: on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles there are loops of the lower part of the product (palm), on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles - the upper ones.
  • First tie a 2x2 elastic band 7 cm high.
  • Then knit in the round facial loops to the beginning of the thumb - 7 cm.

We continue the steps:

  • Knit the thumb on the right part on the first needle, and for the left - on the second knitting needle. So, knit the first loop of the first knitting needle with regular stockinette stitch, and remove the remaining 8 stitches with a safety pin and fasten it.
  • Then cast on 8 yarn over stitches on the same needle. and knit the last 9th stitch in stockinette stitch. The mitten had a hole for the thumb.
  • Now knit to the nail of the little finger - 8 cm.
  • Toe mittens knitted with decreasing stitches. On the 1st and 3rd needles, knit the first two loops together behind the back wall. Pre-turn the first loop. On other knitting needles, knit two loops together at the end behind the front wall.
  • Knit like this until there are 2 loops left on each knitting needle.. Tighten the loops and fasten from the inside out.
  • Thumb knitting- remove the pin and insert one knitting needle in place of this pin, and thread the second one on the opposite side. It turned out 7 loops on the bottom knitting needle and 6 loops on the top.
  • Distribute stitches onto 4 needles: three will have 4 loops, and one will have 3 plus one loop pulled out from the side edge.
  • Knit your finger in a circle to the beginning of the nail. Then start decreasing.
  • Decrease on the toe is done as on the toe. When there is one loop left on each knitting needle, pull the loops and fasten from the wrong side.
  • Knit the left mitten similarly to the right one, but in a mirror image.

Important: When knitting such an ornament, it is important to be able to pull the thread, because you need to constantly change yarn from one color to another. Monitor the quality of the drawing so that the thread tension is uniform and the pattern does not lose its shape.

The pulling process is performed as follows: straighten the knitted loops on the right knitting needle, pull the thread along them, and hold the thread with the index finger of your right hand, pressing it against the last knitted loop. On the wrong side, it is more convenient to press the thread with the thumb of your right hand.

Tip: On the right side, knit with knit stitches and pull the thread of the unused color so that it remains under the right needle. On the wrong side, knit with purl stitches and with your left hand, pull the other thread in front of the work and under the right needle. On the wrong side, the threads are pulled in front of the loops.

Openwork mittens for women with knitting needles: pattern diagrams with descriptions

on the girl’s hands there are openwork mittens made with knitting needles

Women's mittens with openwork patterns, knitted, can also warm your hands from the cold. The secret lies in the naturalness of the thread. Choose 100% wool or mohair for these models.

Features of openwork mittens:

  • knitting a pattern with yarn overs is carried out only on their back side. The inner one is done using stockinette stitch,
  • the need for a stage of work on a control sample for the correct calculation of the loops of the product in its different parts,
  • the presence of wide cuffs so that the mittens do not slide down on your hands

Get inspired to create openwork mittens with knitting needles for yourself or as a gift by viewing ready-made job descriptions and patterns below.

Women's mittens knitted with pearl pattern: diagram with description

ready-made white mittens with a pearl pattern, knitted with knitting needles

The pearl pattern is simple to perform, but provides products with:

  • volume
  • warm
  • beauty
  • practicality
  • light combination with decorative elements, such as buttons, crocheted flowers

Are you just planning to pick up knitting needles and knit mittens for yourself? Feel free to choose a pearl pattern as the basis for them.

Make the cuffs with an elastic band, for example, 2x2 to a height of 8-10 cm. Then your mittens will fit tightly on your wrists.

The pearl pattern, or “rice”, or “corn” consists of alternating knit and purl stitches, over which a purl and knit stitch are made.

As an example, let’s add one of the descriptions of knitting women’s mittens with a pearl pattern.

How to knit warm double mittens with knitting needles for men and women?

warm knitted double mittens not assembled

This model of mittens is many times warmer than single-layer ones.

To knit it, follow the steps:

  • select yarn for the outer and inner layers. It will be convenient if it is of different colors.
Thin mohair is also suitable for the outer mitten if you decide to decorate it with openwork motifs. And for the inner - wool or wool mixture, even from loose products,
  • to contrast the openwork pattern, make the inner mitten from darker/lighter yarn than the outer one,
  • if you love braids and decide to knit them on the outside of the mitten, then for the inside, only the front stitch is enough,
  • take measurements and draw a diagram taking into account the difference in the parameters of the outer and inner mittens. The first is necessarily larger and wider than the second by 0.7-1 cm,
  • convert the centimeters into loops and mark them on the diagram,
  • pick up your knitting needles and start knitting,
  • After completing the outer mitten, return to its first row on the cuff and pick up the loops with your hook. Continue working on the inside,
  • Consider placing your thumb on one side for the outer and inner halves of the mitten.

If you are knitting a double pattern, consisting of 2 independent mittens, which are put on one another, any patterns and descriptions of work will suit you. Add your creativity and delight your hands with warmth.

Knitted mittens for lovers: photo, diagram with description

spring mittens for lovers knitted with hearts

Interesting models of mittens for lovers attract needlewomen with their originality of execution and scope for creativity in decoration.

Since a man and woman in love walk hand in hand, they need 3 mittens:

  • one per free hand
  • one common large

Knit the first ones in different sizes if the hands of a man and a woman are very different in parameters. Otherwise, matching mittens will do. Products knitted with knitting needles stretch well, so young people with almost identical hands will feel comfortable wearing them.

Do the second one like this:

  • tie the cuffs of 2 mittens either in series or in parallel with one thread,
  • combine both fabrics on the same knitting needles and switch to general circular knitting. Break the thread on one mitten, leaving a tail of 5 cm. There are models where general knitting begins 3-5 cm after the cuff,
  • cut the loops in the middle of the overall fabric and then for the toe.

  • originality
  • ease of use with fingers
  • warmth for the entire hand

Both men and women like these types of mittens.

In addition to the usual mitts, above which there is a flap for the fingers, needlewomen came up with a model with a similar folding “house” for the thumb. She has loose fingers like gloves. Therefore, the reliability of fixing the mitten on your hands is ensured.

How to knit warm mittens with knitting needles using an English elastic band for women?

women's mittens knitted with English elastic

English elastic gives the product warmth and volume. It is simple to perform, but requires carefulness and attentiveness of the needlewoman during work.

To ensure that your mittens keep their shape and remain beautiful, knit them on 2 knitting needles and then sew along the edge of the palm.

Main stages of work:

  • take measurements, knit control samples of the fabric and draw a diagram of the mittens,
  • when knitting loosely with English rib, take knitting needles thinner than yarn,
  • To keep the mitten fabric soft, work without edge loops,
  • knit the thumb using stockinette stitch. For harmony, use it to also use the toe of the mitten,
  • Sew the mitten with a crochet hook without over-tightening the loops. This way the seam will remain soft and will not interfere with your wear.

Women's mittens with rhombuses and arans, long knitting needles: pattern diagrams with descriptions

cute mittens knitted with arans on the hands of the model

Aranas, thanks to multiple weaves, look beautiful on a long fabric. Therefore, start knitting mittens with this pattern 15 cm below the wrist.

For example, insert rhombuses in the center of the canvas, and a “rice” pattern inside them. This way your mittens will gain beauty and originality, and your hands will be warm.

Be careful when preparing your yarn for these patterns. It is needed more due to the multiple weaves of loops.

Below are several patterns of aran patterns for women's mittens and descriptions of knitting the latter.

Its diagram is below:

Thanks to the crossing of loops in the front rows, the fabric comes out quite dense and keeps its shape.

Be sure to knit a control sample and correctly calculate the number of loops for the mittens. Otherwise, they risk becoming childish due to the narrowing of the fabric during knitting.

Knitting mittens braid with shadow: pattern diagram with description

cute ready-made mittens with a braid pattern with a shadow lie on the table

Another voluminous pattern for warm mittens is braids with shadow. There are fewer weaves in it than in wicker, and it also slightly compresses the fabric, but the beauty of the result will not leave the needlewoman indifferent.

Braids with shadow are performed in 2 ways:

  • ordinary
  • "grandmother's"

The difference is in the frequency of the rows with interlacing loops. In the first case - through the front row, in the second - in every 5th.

The pattern repeat is 12 loops, which is especially convenient for knitting mittens.

Below is a diagram and descriptions for both methods:

How to knit warm men's and women's mittens from thick yarn?

white mittens knitted from thick yarn

Choose thick wool yarn for knitting warm men's and women's mitten models and knitting needles to match it. That is, No. 5-7 and no thinner.

Choose the main pattern from simple ones, for example, front or back stitch, figured front designs among the back ones.

Elastic for cuffs is also relevant for mittens made of thick thread.

Otherwise, the operating procedure is similar to any description that is understandable to you.

How to knit warm downy mohair mittens with knitting needles: pattern diagram

fluffy knitted mohair mittens on a girl's hands

Goat wool in knitting threads is so soft and fluffy that you want to use it to create warm mittens for the winter.

The thread itself is thinner, for example, acrylic or wool. Therefore, carefully select the knitting needles for it.

To knit beautiful mohair mittens, pay attention to the following points:

  • a large number of purl rows causes a pattern failure on such yarn,
  • pattern. Openwork inserts are acceptable. Because of the fluff of the yarn, your hands will still be warm,
  • knitting density. Keep it moderate without constriction.

Even loops!

Video: how to knit princess mittens with knitting needles?

My first experience of knitting mittens, firstly, using the jacquard technique, and, secondly, I used to make a hole for my thumb by knitting the thread into the work. And now I was picking up air loops along the top.

Knitted with 1.5 knitting needles. Thread from the Trinity Worsted Factory, TAIGA classic, Siberia (300 m / 100 g), 100% merino wool. Here is a link to this yarn (with permission from site moderators) (Link removed, User Agreement clause 2.4) Colors bleach (code 4910230) and orange (code 4911625). Two skeins will yield 3 pairs of similar mittens (two skeins means two colors). My knitting density is 40 loops per 10 cm.

Knitting is actually not difficult. To prevent the threads from getting tangled, I put one skein to my left, the other to my right, and monitor their change. Every 3 loops I secured a non-working thread. I knitted the first mitten for about a week and a half (naturally, taking into account other household chores), and knitted the second one in two days, since the pattern is already familiar. The size of these mittens is for a child 6-8 years old.

I have already started knitting another pattern, also Norwegian jacquard, also mittens, a slightly larger size.

So, description of work .

We cast on 51 loops with a white thread and knit with an elastic band 2 knits, 1 purl: 9 r. white, 2 p. orange, 4 rubles. white, 2 p. orange, 1 rub. white, 1 rub. orange, 1 rub. white, 2 p. orange, 4 rubles. white, 2 p. orange, 5 rub. white.

We begin to knit the pattern according to the diagram. Pay attention to the increase in loops in the area of the thumb. The diagram, in my opinion, shows very clearly that loops are added every 3 rows, immediately after the orange loop (and immediately before the last orange loop) one yarn over is added with white thread. Where there is an X on the diagram, you need to slip 13 loops (from orange to orange loops) onto a pin, and in the next row above these loops, cast on 13 loops. Here, a set of two colors presents some difficulty, but believe me, this is just a matter of practice. To suffer for 10 minutes longer, but then make a mark on your list of positive qualities - “I know how to cast air loops in two colors.”

Then we continue knitting according to the pattern. Deductions are made as follows. After knitting three border loops, two white loops are knitted, and the first of them is pulled through the second (as we close the loops when finishing the work). We do the same before the next border - as if we are closing one loop. We knit the mittens until there are 10 loops left on the knitting needles, then we pull both threads (white and orange) through all the loops and tighten.

Finger . We transfer 13 loops from a pin to a knitting needle, on another we cast on 13 loops of the top row, and also pick up one loop on each side (so that there are no holes). Distribute evenly. There are a total of 28 stitches on the knitting needles. We begin to knit according to the finger knitting pattern. Pay attention to the pattern match. The outermost orange stripes from the main mitten are like the inner parts of the border on the finger. This is also not difficult, you just need to take your time, and so that no one else bothers you at this time. We close the loops in the same way as in the main mitten, and when there are 8 loops left on the knitting needles, we pull both threads through them and tighten the knitting.

Turn the mitten inside out. If we crossed the thread every 3-4-5 loops, then the inside of the mitten looks very neat, the fingers do not catch on anything when putting it on. Using a hook, we pull the ends of the threads from the top of the mitten and the thumb inward, fasten them, and cut off the excess. We knit the second mitten in the same way, only we read the pattern according to the pattern not from left to right, but from right to left, i.e. in a mirror image. The finger is knitted in the same way.

All! New Year's gift is ready!!
