A snood or a collar scarf is a thing that I have been looking at for a long time. In the conditions of our Siberian winter, only hardened people can walk without a scarf, but I don’t belong to such people - I freeze all the time :-). The usual scarves are somehow tired, especially since wearing them over a down jacket or a fur coat is somehow no longer very pretty. And sometimes you want to wrap yourself up so that only one eye sticks out 🙂 Here is a snood - just what you need! I decided I would knit and went to the Internet in search of patterns and patterns.

How to tie a snood: my step-by-step master class with a photo

And here is my master class on knitting a snood with “bumps”, shown in the video above. Still, it’s more convenient for me to quickly orient myself by the photo than to review and rewind the video for a long time in order to remember something. To make the snood denser, I knitted it in two threads. The threads are exactly the same as for the snood with asterisks. We start knitting snood not from the usual chain of air loops, but from a chain of half-columns. This chain looks prettier and stretches better. To make it better visible and understandable, especially for the photo on the blog, I tied a chain of half-columns into one thread.

We knit a chain of half-columns of the desired length. The length of my chain is 66 cm. Knitted for a 4-year-old child to wear over a winter jacket with a hood. If you want the snood to be two turns, the length of the chain should be 2.5 times longer. You can tie a chain, figure it out for yourself or a child and tie it to the required length.

We close the finished chain into a ring with connecting loops, we knit 2 air loops for lifting and then we knit, as shown below. (I forgot to take a picture of the beginning of the row with air lifting loops, so several previous “bumps” have already been knitted in the photo, but the knitting of the entire row is identical to the first “bump”, so I think everything will be clear).
