Bought as a birthday present for my daughter's friend. The girls are delighted! They are 14, and for six months I have not seen them more than three meters from the computer. And here they sit, sew! For a long time I did not talk about my books ... Today I want to tell you about a rare edition at the moment, which is already difficult to find on sale.
How I love to sew simple rag dolls! All their charm lies in the simplicity of design and a huge variety of key details.
For several years I stared at this book, but did not buy it, because I thought that I would not find anything new for myself. How wrong I was!
"French Textile Dolls" is a guide to making both the doll itself and her complete wardrobe.
The book is made in a hard cover of a large format with dimensions of 205*240 mm. Inside 144 pages of thick matte paper with color illustrations, but no lace.
I'll go back to the beginning. The book was released already in 2014 in a small edition of only 4,000 copies without additional printing. Therefore, today it is available mainly in digital form. But an avid needleworker is not looking for easy ways! I found a printed copy in one store, and even on sale, so I grabbed it without hesitation. But, I can say with confidence that the book is still on sale in Bukvoed (I personally saw it recently). Therefore, if you find it, be sure to take the printed version - it is easier to work with it than with an e-book.

The manufacture of the base doll includes not only the main body, but also hairstyles and faces. Each head has its own drawing-scheme, clearly showing how the final result should look like.
For each head there are step-by-step instructions that indicate materials, knitting patterns and the sewing process itself.
When you have already decided on the base of the toy, the fun begins! Such a rich selection of clothes, accessories and even toys for dolls. For example, for a "sissy" doll, there are instructions for sewing not only the baby herself, but also a nightgown, a dudu bear cub, pillows, a dressing gown and slippers. It's such a love of detail! This is what gives value to such seemingly simple toys.

The only downside is the print quality. As you can see from the photos, everything is faded and lit up in places (red and orange). In general, the eye is not pleasing ((
By the way, a significant remark is the scale of the patterns. They need to be increased. Does anyone know how to quickly do this? I just trace around the pattern, thereby increasing it. But this is a very laborious and long process, since everything needs to be done exactly, which does not always work out the first time.
